Agios Ioannis is located in east Pelion and almost 55 km away from Volos, and belongs to the municipality of Zagora Mouresi, in Thessaly. Papa Nero Beach
The exquisite Papa Nero beach is located south of Agios Ioannis and is one the most famous beaches of Pelion, 56km away from Volos. The clean sandy shore with the golden sand and the Aegean waters has given it a blue flag award, while the surrounding greenery of the mountain gives the impression of being somewhere exotic. The beach is organized and has umbrellas, sunbeds, lifeguard and along with it some coffee shops and taverns that offer delicious seafood.
Plaka beach is located in east Pelion between the beaches of Agion Saranta and Agios Ioannis. It is one of the most famous locations of Pelion and is visited every year by thousands of tourists especially during the hot summer days. Reasons are obvious: Clean crystal blue waters, lush vegetation reaching up to the sea and basic organization are among them. The beach has small pebbles of all colours, from white and semitransparent to grey and black and can be found till the first few meters of the sea’s floor, after that great craggy stones exist.
